Susan Janzen was born in Calgary, and raised in Edmonton, Alberta. As a child, she lived in foster care, in an all-girls convent and off and on with her mother until, at age fifteen, she left home to go it alone.
She graduated high school, got married, had two children, and was a professional singer and recording artist for eighteen years. After her divorce in 1982, Susan was honored to represent the City of Edmonton as the first local “Klondike Kate” for two years while raising her two small children. She remarried in 1988, returned to school and graduated with a Bachelor of Education Degree, and taught Special Needs children for six years.
In 2003, she became a licensed Realtor, and today she is a proud mother of five, grandmother of eight, and a great grandma, too! Despite her rough childhood and the challenges she’s faced, Susan remains optimistic and full of gratitude.
